Merseyside BioBank

Mersey Biobank (MBB) houses and manages the Local Biological Record for North Merseyside (Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and St.Helens) and contributes to the biodiversity duties for these districts. For a small fee, it is able to provide biological information to third parties in support of planning applications and projects. MBB is supported by a team of dedicated volunteers who assist with recording, information management and publicity. MBB maintains a separate website where further information can be obtained.

Accessing Information

Information requests should be posted or emailed to Merseyside BioBank or sent via their data request form.

Sharing Information

Merseyside BioBank is a hub for biodiversity information in Sefton, Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens. As a hub we collate information for a wide range of organisations and individuals. That network is critical to ongoing knowledge sharing, up-to-date information on local wildlife, quality checking of data and delivery of ‘best available information’ to inform better conservation and planning for wildlife in our area.

Services for other Organisations

MBB offer a number of products and services for commercial users. These have been designed in partnership with data providers, the planning authorities and with input from users to ensure that you receive all the information we hold that is pertinent to your work and so you have access to the same information against which your work (e.g. planning application) will be reviewed.

Making your Request

You will need to contact MBB with your site information and product of choice. Typically a grid reference, search radius and type of data required (e.g. ‘priority species within 2km of SJ417900’). We will then provide a formal quote, no work will be undertaken until you have confirmed your acceptance of the quote.
